Whether you can help on the weekend, for short coverage, or long-term, all types of fosters are welcome!
No. Fostering is never free. Whether it's your time, gas, or money. Some people chose to purchase their own dog food so all pups in the home eat the same. Others wish for the rescue to purchase food for the foster. Regardless, your time is worth something to us and we know many fosters end up putting in their own gas money and time to transport dogs to and from appointments and more. We will, however, always send dogs into their foster homes with everything they will need to get started.
Fosters are required to complete an online course at their leisure. It takes approx. 8 hours to complete. Dogs will not go into foster homes until the core course is completed. Fosters are also expected to follow the 333 rule and respect the dog's communications and boundaries. Additionally, we ask fosters to write up the bio for their dog and complete the meet and greet process, as they know the dogs best. We always help with whatever we can.
Transport is usually needed early in the morning and between 3-5 pm, depending on the purpose of the transport. Sometimes it may be a weekend to an event, but most times transport is needed to take a dog to the vet or pick up a dog from the shelter.
Not necessarily, but in short, yes. Many systems are easier to navigate on a bigger screen and with a keyboard. Some, more computer-like, tablets may work well for you, such as the Microsoft Surface Pro with a keyboard.
